BHCRI Launches New Five-year Strategic Plan
BHCRI is pleased to release its new five-year strategic plan to our members, funding partners, volunteers and all those supporting the mission of the Institute.
The plan is the result of a comprehensive planning and consultative process undertaken over the last year and a half.
Our priorities over the next five years all support research excellence: Sustainability; Communication and Promotion; Training & Support and Networking & Collaboration.
“We are so excited to move forward to the next phase of the Institution, and to work with this clear roadmap.” says Dr. Jeanette Boudreau, BHCRI’s new Scientific Director. “Now more than ever, collaborative and multidisciplinary efforts are leading the way to better quality of life, detection and treatments for patients with cancer. BHCRI has and will continue to be central to fostering research collaborations, training, development, and large-scale efforts that knit together our research, clinical, training, and patient communities.
BHCRI is very grateful to Kate Calnan of Thinkwell Research, for her facilitation, Dalhousie’s Office of the Vice President Research for the Next Wave grant which supported the process and everyone who provided thoughtful insights and observations about opportunities for BHCRI to build and enhance all aspects of cancer research in the Atlantic region.
As BHCRI now moves into the implementation phase of our strategic plan, there will be extensive consultation to ensure that BHCRI maintains and develops programs and resources critical to the cancer research community.
“The membership of BHCRI is its strongest asset. Our new strategic plan is ambitious and will position us as leaders in the research community. We look forward to continuing and expanding our ongoing efforts to expand the cancer research community and its work. Our researchers, trainees and partners are top notch; facilitating their research and interaction will continue to strengthen the Institute, and cancer research and delivery in the Atlantic region and beyond.” Dr. Boudreau adds.
The implementation committee is tasked with identifying future directions for BHCRI and defining appropriate metrics to assess progress toward each goal. Updates on progress will be communicated to the BHCRI community regularly through the BHCRI bi-weekly notice and via the BHCRI website.
Through a process that is transparent and inclusive, BHCRI will continue to build a collaborative cancer research ecosystem that will encompass and support every aspect research from fundamental discoveries to patient perspectives.
We are excited about the future of our Institute and look forward to engaging our members and partners as we move forward into this next phase of BHCRI.
