CRTP Skills Acquisition Program
One of the unique aspects of BHCRI’s Cancer Research Training Program is the opportunity for trainees to obtain in-depth skills and knowledge through the Skills Acquisition Program (SAP). The SAP offers financial support to CRTP trainees wishing to visit another Institution for extended periods of time.
Through participation in the SAP, trainees gain valuable exposure that both broadens their personal skills and creates new collaborative opportunities for themselves, their research lab and the research program that hosted their SAP visit. The benefits of SAP extend beyond the trainee because an important expectation for trainees is that the insights gained will be shared with the trainee group. As a result, all trainees gain understanding and awareness of emerging technologies and developing expertise.
“The CRTP Skills Acquisition Program gave me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study with a world-renowned leader in the field of metabolomics, Dr. Guido Kroemer. I learned so many valuabel skills in the field, expanded my scientific network internationally, and have since integrated several techniques into the metabolomic program that we have here at Dalhousie University” – Barry Kennedy (SAP 2018 — Paris, France).
