Research Summary:
Lung cancer remains the most common cause of cancer death worldwide. My current
research project investigates how we can best harness a specific immune cell type, called
Natural Killer cells, to recognize and kill lung cancer. To do this, I will investigate patient
tissue for the presence of Natural Killer cells and describe their impact on patient survival
outcomes. My research also considers the different genetic mutations known to contribute to
lung cancer and how they may predict the response patients will have to certain therapies.
Together, these pieces of information add to our growing knowledge of the disease and better
inform our treatment and support of lung cancer patients in Canada.
