Helping people with cancer sleep and live better

Dr. Garland’s research is focused on understanding the development of insomnia during cancer and how best to treat this and other cancer-related side effects. Seeing sleep as a foundation for all other health behaviors, Dr. Garland and her lab are investigating whether improving sleep can produce cascading effects on other symptoms such as cognitive impairment. She also has a special interest in the experience and recovery from cancer in young adults.
