Narrowing the ‘gap’ between research and practice
Robin’s primary research interests relate to understanding and optimizing the movement of evidence-based innovations into clinical practice as well as the interface between evidence-based medicine and policy. This includes investigating issues such as: barriers and enablers to implementing and using evidence-based innovations; how and the extent to which factors at multiple levels of the cancer system [e.g. patient, clinician, organization, socio-political and economic context] influence the implementation and sustainability of innovations; and the role and nature of scientific evidence in decision-making for cancer. Robin uses multiple methods in her research, including linked administrative health data, systematic reviews, and case study and qualitative methods. The ultimate aim of her work is to improve our ability to implement and sustain innovations that improve the organization, delivery, and outcomes of cancer care.
