Xanthophylls in cancer prevention
Our research aims to study the carotenoids of xanthophylls type for their anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities on cancer cells. We have shown that fucoxanthinol can reduce the viability of human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 by modulation of NF-kappaB signaling pathway. Although uncommon, we are also interested to better understand the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms leading the development of testicular Leydig cell tumors.
