Improving access and quality

As a surgeon and clinical head of Capital Health’s Cancer Care Program, Dr. Geoff Porter knows time is of the essence when diagnosing and treating cancer. His research aims to find and remove roadblocks that might hinder a patient’s access to timely, high-quality care in Nova Scotia. At the same time, he’s working to improve the quality of cancer surgery Canada-wide, as national leader of the breast cancer Synoptic Reporting Tools Project, a $1.2-million project funded by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.

Involvement with BHCRI to date:

Dr. Porter is a BHCRI Senior Scientist, was a member of the BHCRI Working Group, sits on the BHCRI Board and presented at the 2011 Mini Cancer Course.
