Research Summary: My program of research focuses on ways to encourage individuals to participate in cancer screening. Specific interests include the use of social media and mobile health (mHealth) interventions for cancer screening. I am particularly interested in the development, implementation, and evaluation of social media interventions for colon, breast and cervical cancer. I am also interested in addressing cancer screening disparities, particularly for those from equity-deserving groups. Currently, I am exploring the use of primary care provider interventions for addressing screening with patients from equity-deserving groups.
Why are you interested in your area of research? Almost everyone we know will know of someone impacted by cancer in their lifetime. Encouraging individuals to participate in cancer screening can help prevent and detect the disease early in order to maximize patient outcomes.
