Linnea Veinotte CRTP Scholar

Many at Dalhousie University knew Dr. Linnea Veinotte, a passionate cancer researcher who passed away tragically in December 2015. Linnea was a member of the Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP) during her time at Dal and continued to support BHCRI during her tenure at Acadia University by serving on scientific review panels.

Linnea was the top-ranked Postdoctoral Fellow in the Fall 2009 CRTP competition, earning the Bruce and Dorothy Rosetti Scholarship in Cancer Research through the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation. A fellow CRTP trainee, Dr. Adam MacNeil, shared the following thoughts about his time in the program with Linnea: “I had an opportunity to speak to and learn from Linnea frequently over the years. Linnea was a talented scientist and easily one of the best communicators of her work that I have ever encountered. Whenever I saw her present in departmental, Institute or conference seminars, I came away a better scientist for it.”

To honour Linnea’s memory, BHCRI has created the Linnea Veinotte CRTP Scholar designation, which will be awarded to the top-ranked applicant in CRTP funding competitions each year.
