The overarching aim of Dr. Ilie’s research is to Improve the Quality of Life of Prostate Cancer survivors through Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). Her substantive interests are in the areas of quality of life post prostate cancer diagnosis, the establishment of an infrastructure for the electronic routine collection of function and general health patient-reported outcomes, improving the communication between clinicians and patients, clinicians and the patient’s circle of care, transitions of cancer care, management of cancer care and cancer care health policy. Her research examines the needs and challenges of men diagnosed with prostate cancer and prostate cancer survivors and actions this evidence-based information in into tangible education and empowerment programs aimed at improving the lives of cancer survivors. Her research also explores how technology can be leveraged to enable implementation and sustainability of innovative models of patient education and patient empowerment as a means to support health system transformation (www.pcpep.org)
