Research Interests:

Microwave tumour ablation; dielectric properties of tumoral tissues; design of new tools for cancer detection and treatment.

Dr. Bélanger's research focuses on innovations in the use of electromagnetic radiation as energy source for the detection and treatment of medical ailments, primarily cancer. Her work aims to improve the efficacy of microwave-assisted ablation procedures for cancer treatment and extend their applicability to broader range of tissues and to tumours at various stages of development. She also is acquiring dielectric properties data of healthy and diseased tissues. The latter will be used as diagnostic tools to be used to predict the extent of necrosis processes occurring during microwave-assisted ablation procedures. The overarching objective of her research is the design of novel microwave-assisted ablation tools.
