A native of Holland, Baukje (Bo) Miedema trained and worked as a general and psychiatric nurse in Groningen and Utrecht. She immigrated to Canada in 1981. In 1995 she completed her PhD in Sociology at the University of New Brunswick. Since 1998, she has used her research skills, clinical experience and sociological background to examine cancer-related psychosocial issues. In particular, she likes to examine social issues that many cancer patients face, such as delays in education, reduced income and relationship issues.

Membership Status:

Dr. Miedema is a BHCRI Senior Scientist, a member of the BHCRI Board, has served as a member of a BHCRI Scientific Review Committee and presented at the 2011 Mini Cancer Course.
